Building Bridges of Hope

The collaborating foundations of the La Pica Project hope to shift the paradigm on charitable initiatives. In using culturally sensitive and inclusive strategies for Hispanic/Latino families in Puerto Rico we will mitigate inadequate access to resources for a more stable future.
Our Story
Sembrando Semillas Puerto Rico: The Jayuya La Pica Project will convert a former youth incarceration facility into a community center for education and skills development.
The La Pica Project aims to cultivate an environment where all on-site individuals and the collective community will thrive. By fostering relationships with akin foundations and collaborating with innovative leadership, the programs at La Pica will create empowerment for the future and preserve the local cultural history and its land. It is only through collaboration that sustainable socioeconomic growth is possible.
The children and young adults of Puerto Rico face challenges in the education and work development system. Difficulties are multiplied when their societal status involves a disability, housing and food insecurity, the foster care system, and lack of access. In carefully curating a team of collaborating foundations, the La Pica Project hopes to mitigate inadequate access to resources for a more stable future.
